Hello from beautiful, historic Honesdale, Pennsylvania!
We are Dave and Wendy Malti, owners of Garage Mix Candy, alongside our twin sons, Regan and Cameron, plus our Golden Retrievers, Zoe and Nova. Yes .... we tend to do things in two's.
We welcome you to our site and to give our delicious, one-of-a-kind candy a try. The Original Garage Mix Candy was an irresistible, sweet and salty combination of Virginia Redskin Peanuts and the old fashion, fudgy NECCO Chocolate Babies. It originated right here in Honesdale back in the 1920's and is considered a tasty, local treasure in our hometown.
In 2017, an unexpected inventory issue occurred. The NECCO Chocolate Babies were no longer available. We are born and raised Honesdalians who did not want to disappoint our faithful candy fans, so we created the New Generation of Garage Mix Candy. We partnered with Mark Ave Chocolates, a local candy company in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, that has been making specialty chocolates for over 80 years. The New Generation of Garage Mix Candy is still peanuts and chocolate, it's still sweet and salty, it's just a new, unique twist on the original combination.
When we aren't packing Garage Mix Candy, in what we affectionately call our
"Wonka Factory", our daily lives consist of Dave owning both a Tile Installation and Radon Mitigation Business and Wendy is part owner of her family's General Motors Automotive Dealership. Both our boys graduated from Penn College of Technology in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Regan works in the Electrical and Building Automation field in Rochester, New York, while Cameron works in Construction and Farming here in Honesdale. The boys help pack candy with us during busy times of the year. We are also lucky enough to have extra help and support from our parents, siblings and friends.
What we love most is having get-togethers. Our house is the gathering spot for
Sunday suppers, holidays, birthday celebrations, etc. When friends and family are around, munchies are a must, so Garage Mix Candy is the perfect snack for sharing! We Malti's are known for enjoying happy hour and simply sitting on our porch, visiting, laughing and making new memories.
We grew up enjoying this unique treat. Our mission is to share what we enjoy by bringing happiness to your taste buds and to possibly start a new delicious tradition in your home.
